My stereo thingy in 3D by Norke My stereo thingy in 3D by Norke
So my girlfriend infected me with the 3D virus. She says I need to be a real modeler that works with Maya or Lightwave or whatever, but I don't want to push myself with a complicated software package. And I lurve SketchUp.

When I feel comfortable doing 3D, then I might start working with better software. It's just, SketchUp is so fun and it's FREE!

I got Blender, but it looks waaay to complicated for me to enjoy a good day of modeling.

:peace:

ps: This bugger took me the good part of 3 days. I will add material later when I know how. :paranoid:
ps2: I know ';PHILIPS' is wrong on the second box, but I only noticed after the rendering. :B

I'd dare suggest Wings3D as a polygon modeler that's not overly complicated, but apparently you already know plenty well what you're doing in Sketchup.

" a real 3D modeler"... bygod if you can create something this detailed in a prorgram that originally was meant for architectural blueprints and visualizing, then you are a 3D modeler.

the tools are merely tools, that's all. a true artist uses whatever is available.

Wonderful detail. Could you really tell a difference in the rendering time with all curvaceous geometry? That knob on the left looks like it was fun to model :P.

haha man, next time add the text after you mirrored the box over :lmao:

but yeah, it looks clean and really sharp. how many polys does the final model have? I should have a look at sketchup some time, I think.
though I really love max :D

The thing was. I created a box, I made that into a Component. And then mirrored it. And then whatever you change, happens on the clone as well. So I forgot the letters got transfered too. :D I don't know how to count polygons in Sketchup. :O

ah, I see, hehe. and is there no way to exit the component mode before you apply the text?

ah, yeah, your not using Maya or anything, so it would probably be known as something different, if its on there at all, but basically occlusion gives everything a really nice white txture that makes things look sexy, gives realistic shadows and stuff.
