It's really nice, but how did you blend it?

Hi, I really like this, what package did you use to do this please? and how did you blend the colours so well, that's one of my stumbling points, that I spend far too long trying to get a smooth blend between colours. I use Painter mostly and I use the airbrush, and the 'just add water' tool.

I don't use Painters, so I couldn't tell how it works. I just color in layers, untill I reach the final result. I work very traditionaly.

Then how would you suggest to achieve a smooth blend please? I would understand if you discussed it in photoshop terms as I do have photoshop, but I dont really use it for much. Would you describe it as just usuing colours next to each other, laying them down, but having little difference where they blend or something? Or even if you were to suggest doing it using a traditional medium, I could try that, as I do use Acrylics and such.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

Take care

Thankyou. I've done some work with oils, and the airbrush in painter allows for a similar technique, I shall continue to practice, until maybe one day, I can call myself a painter.

take care.

It's just a matter of working with transparanty. When you work very softly, layer over layer, so you can't see the edges of your brush, you will get a brushed look. Practice is the only solution.. ;)

I love the finished picture, but I think I like the unfinished image in step 5 the best. Her face seems to carry stronger emotion, at least to me anyways.

Thx for commenting... I had the same thought when putting those frames together. It wasn't actually ment to be a work... Just a study for light. And it's not finished enough to be a work.
